DEEP WORK | WEEK 2
"Breaking the Mold"

Breaking the Mold
In week 2 of “Deep Work”, Pastor Rory challenged the idea that “normal” is actually healthy. Culture constantly pressures people to chase achievement, live exhausted, feed every desire, and build identity around trends and approval. But the result is clear: more anxiety, confusion, emptiness, and disconnection than ever before.
Using Romans 12:2, the message centered on this truth: either the world will shape your soul, or your soul will shape your world.
Pastor Rory explained the difference between being:
- Conformed — shaped by outside pressure
- Transformed — changed from the inside out
Looking at the story of Book of Daniel, the sermon showed how Daniel and his friends resisted Babylon’s pressure through three things:
- Deep Connection — they stood together, not alone
- Deep Conviction — they continually renewed their minds with truth
- Deep Courage — they trusted God even when faith became costly
One of the strongest reminders from the message was:
“What is filling you is forming you.”
The pressure of culture is real, but believers do not have to live molded by it. Through community, truth, and courage, God can build people who are strong in soul and able to influence the world around them instead of being shaped by it.
