“Upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.” —Matthew 16:18

Growing up in church, I learned that it was easy to be loud for Jesus on Sunday but much harder to be bold for Him outside the church. I knew Scripture, loved worship, and believed in God—but I was afraid of rejection. I didn’t want people to think I was strange or treat me differently.

Many believers experience this same tension. Our faith feels strong in a church service, but what happens when we enter places where the name of Jesus isn’t welcomed?

On Team Jesus, Sunday is the locker room. Every other day is the field.

God didn’t save us to become locker-room legends. He saved us and sent us into the world.

Take Your Faith Outside

The early Church began behind locked doors. Even after seeing the resurrected Jesus, the disciples were still afraid. But when the Holy Spirit came, He moved them out of the upper room and into the streets.

In Acts 3, Peter and John encountered a man who had been unable to walk since birth. People passed him every day, but Peter saw his need as an opportunity for God to move.

Peter told him:

“I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!”
—Acts 3:6

Peter didn’t ignore the problem or simply promise to pray later. He invited God into the situation—and the man was healed.

How many needs do we walk past every day? What if the problems God places in our path are opportunities for Him to reveal His power?

Refuse to Live in Fear

After the miracle, Peter and John were arrested and ordered to stop preaching about Jesus. The enemy wanted to keep their faith contained.

He uses the same strategy today. He doesn’t mind us having faith as long as it remains quiet, comfortable, and inside the church.

But Peter and John refused to allow fear to control them. When they were released, the believers didn’t pray for safety. They prayed for boldness.

“Give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word.”
—Acts 4:29

The room shook, they were filled with the Holy Spirit, and ordinary people went back into the same city that had threatened them—this time with greater boldness.

Cross the Line

What need have you been walking past? What situation have you accepted as impossible? Where has fear drawn a boundary around your faith?

Ask God to do what only He can do. A big God is worthy of big prayers.

Jesus crossed every line drawn by fear, culture, religion, and even death. They arrested Him, sealed His tomb, and placed guards outside—but none of it could hold Him.

Now He sends us beyond the safety of the church walls to carry His hope into everyday places.

Sunday is the locker room. The rest of the week is the field.

It’s time to take our faith out of bounds.
